Interview of the street alien photographer G@BR!3L. If you want to know what's happening in the streets of Los Angeles, he's the man.
Interview of a street art photographer named G@BR!3L aka Gab. We discovered his work two years ago through the great Los angeles blog LA TACO. This guy browses the streets to bring us stunning graffiti and street art from Los Angeles. He created a blog with another street photographer Kzer. Welcome to the world of the street alien G@BR!3L.
FC: Where are you from? What’s your background?
A young alien born and raised in the streets of LA.
FC: How would you define your work and what inspires you?
I dont really consider flicking graffiti work. I take it as a hobby that I do to relax, to get away from all the bullshit surrounding me. I am inspired by the art itself, the creation of people and there talents.
FC: What was your interest in art and what led you to taking pictures of all those things?
Since the first time graffiti caught my eye I started noticing it everywhere. As time went on I noticed spots I had seen before not being there anymore which led me to jack a camera and begin this hobby.
FC: Do you schedule picture sessions, or do you always have your camera with you?
I never leave home without my camera, but I usually let my spidey senses take me to the new spots, but when my spidey senses dont sense anything then I go out on my own to see what I find.
FC: How many flicks do you possess in your street art collection?
About 6 or 700. Not all of them were uploaded because the pictures were so horribly taken.
FC: What do you love about taking pictures?
When I take a picture of something that has been done the night before and go the day after I have flicked it and its not there…
FC: What are your favorite spots to shoot?
I prefer flicking stuff in HOLLYWOOD, but of course I’m not going to say no to my senses when a new spot has been completed
FC: Do you use special effects on your pictures?
Not on the originals, but when I do mess with a copy of a flick I’ll only upload it if it looks good enough for the naked eye
FC: Name a photographer(s) whose work you respect and admire.
KZER…A young illegal alien from mars who came into LA and fell in love with graffiti at age of 13. He then killed someone for a camera and started flicking graffiti..
FC: Any street artist/crews you’re fan of?
Too many to name.
FC: What’s coming up in the next few months?
My spidey senses cant look into the future but they do tell me LOTS n LOTS of graff!
FC: What’s your real goal?
Play ball with PAUL WALL so I can steal his GRILLZ!
FC: Any words of wisdom?
Drink your milk and eat your veggies
