Inspiration of the week: Portraits of celebrities made out drawing pins
While some use post'it notes to create their art, Andre Woolery uses drawing pins as his main medium.
This self-taught artist was raised in United States. His art consist an accumulation of pins on a canvas reinforced with foam purchased at hardware stores.
The mix of techniques plus a graphic and simple use of bright colors gives an impressive pattern and texture to his work. This combination and the fact the models he uses are mostly African-American celebrities (Barack Obama, Jay-Z or Kanye West) makes his paintings accessible to all. Visit his website for more information. In the meantime here is a selection of his works.
