Joe Fenton reaches a precision on details above reason. For Doodling fans, this artist's explosive style is worth having a peek...

Joe Fenton is an English designer and sculptor who was trained at the Wimbledon Art School in United Kingdom. He startes in the film industry working for disney as well as for Miramax for instance. He also worked for Terry Gilliam.

But one day he decides to change his life, living environment and since going that path, changing jobs too. He crossed the Atlantic to land in New York. That's where he opperated his professional transition and decided to become an illustrator.

His first contract in edition  was made with Simon & Schuster for the writting and illustration of 2 childrens' books named "What's under the bed?" and "Boo!". Both quickly became hits.

"I'm not satisfied until I have filled my images with many details, telling many stories in one image."

Joe Fenton

Just like with our dear graffiti writers' walls, a single visual is enough to tell a whole story regardless of its format. The technique and style combined with imagnation (which draws its inspiration from religions in general) give rise to bluffing illustrations. Yes, Joe obsessed with details and his illustrations are the best evidences of the fact.

Two 0.5 and 0.3 graphite pens, tracing paper, sometime added with acrylic or airbrush are the only tools he uses. Nothing more. Mastered volumes, light and shadows give depth and  striking precision to his art.

"...Ça voit large et ça voyage en miniature / Terre à terre comme un lilliputien..."
